Name, Location and Description

From W.T. Davis’ key to Platypedia1

A. Fore wings more than twice as long as broad.

B. Large, expanding 40 millimeters or over; uncus when viewed from above long and narrow.

C. Head narrow across eyes with front strongly produced.

D. Uncus viewed in profile very thin and flattened at the extremity.

Body black, head and thorax dull, abdomen shining, reflections bluish-black; fore femora entirely black, pale at extremities; membranes at the base of fore wings orange. Expands about 44 millimeters. Occurs in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico.
